Laser eye surgery special offers

I decided to have laser eye surgery at Optimax after doing research on a number of different companies. I knew a few friends who had been to Optimax who recommended them as they ended up with perfect 20:20 vision which is obviously what I am looking for!

My eyes have always been really bad so I didn’t want to rush into having the surgery and end up being disappointed. I actually found a great Optimax half price offer on a website and thought it seemed too good to be true. When I rang Optimax up they said the offer was valid and that I could save up to 50% on the best treatment that they do.

I have decided that I want the very best laser eye surgery to give myself the best chance of having perfect vision. I have therefore chosen to have Lasik Intralase wavefront which is apparently the safest and most accurate laser eye surgery available. Anyway I have the surgery booked for 1 months time so fingers crossed all goes well – I will post back with the results to let you know how it goes. I cant lie that I am a little scared about having it done but everyone keeps telling me it is nothing to worry about!

Since my last blog post I have been scouring the internet for information on laser eye surgery and I have learnt quite a lot of new stuff. I really found wiki helpful on laser eye surgery although it is a little complicated at times. You can read stuff about laser eye surgery from wiki at following address:

Let me know what you think about the information it provides. Anyway I have found a lot of new useful information about laser eye surgery and I thought it would summarise it below:

• The main 2 types of laser eye surgery are Lasik and Lasek.
• Lasik has a quicker healing time and is less painful than lasek.
• People who do contact sports like Judo/Karate might have to have Lasek as it leaves your eye stronger.
• You may still need glasses for reading after laser eye surgery if you are aged over 40 which I am!
• The operation only takes about 15 mins and the actual lasering bit of your eye only lasts a few seconds.

Any way thats most of information that I took out of the laser consultation. The main issue for me is fact that after surgery i will prob still need glasses for reading. At the moment i take my glasses off for reading but i wont be able to do that after surgery -thats what the optician said. So im a little undecided! The optician said its a pity i didnt have the surgery 10 years ago and then i wouldnt need the spex for anything!

laser eye surgery consultation

Hi Again!

Like I said I was going to do – I went ahead and had some laser eye consultations. I went to optimax, optical express and ultralase and i was pretty impressed with them all. The consultation was pretty similar with all of them – and i will explain this below:

• They put eye drops in my eyes which they said would mean they could more accurately measure my glasses prescription. The eye drops made my pupils bigger as well.
• They checked the health of my eyes and checked my prescription using the letters on a chart like normally happens at the opticians.
• They checked my pupil size – they said mine were big!
• They checked the shape of my eye (cornea i think) to check it was healthy.
• They checked the thickness of my cornea – they said if it was too thin you cant have laser eye surgery – mine was ok they said.

I think that was about it! – but I might have missed somethings – all in all it was a pretty easy thing to have done. They all said i was suitable for laser eye surgery and they all recommended lasik intralase with wavefront. I am going to read about these things and then decide whether to have it done! Will let you know what i found out about these things and blog about it next time!

Considering having laser eye surgery

Hi fellow glasses wearers!

I have worn glasses all my life as i was one of the unlucky ones who was born with bad eyes! Tried contact lenses but never quite got the hang of them, so i have been stuck wearing spex ever since!

Im a keen sportsman although no one ever takes you seriously when you show up on the football pitch in you glasses, especially when they are not sports glasses!

Been seriously thinking about having laser eye treatment over the past 3-4 years as im desperate to get rid of my spex. Im just kind of nervous of having the treatment, but have decided at the very least im going to go ahead and book one of those laser consultations. I am probably going to try all the big companies like optical express, optimax and ultralase and maybe try some smaller independent type companies as well . . not quite sure how many consutations i can have but will see about that!

Someone I know had a laser consultation and said they put eye drops in which means your vision is blurred – probably means im going to need a day of fwork so best not have too many consultations! My eyes are pretty bad so im just hoping they dont say im not suitable. My prescription is as follows:

RE -5.50

LE -6.50

Not sure if laser eye surgery treats that high prescription but fingers crossed it does! Anyway I will keep you all posted as to how the consultation went and let you know what i decide to do!
